Kathmandu. The government has announced an ambitious plan to bring broadband internet to 5,000 rural villages within the next 2 years.
The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has allocated a budget of Rs 3 billion for this plan. This program is part of the government's Digital Nepal campaign.
The Minister said, "Reducing the digital divide is our priority. Internet has now become a basic necessity for education and economic opportunity."
