Kathmandu – Government employees will no longer have to wait an entire month to receive their salaries. The government has officially launched a new system to pay salaries every 15 days, starting as a pilot project.
The initiative was inaugurated on Wednesday by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle during a program held at the Ministry of Finance. He stated that the move is expected to boost economic activity by increasing cash flow in the market, encouraging consumption, and strengthening overall demand.
Under the new system, salary entries are processed through the Computerized Government Accounting System (SIGAS) by the Office of the Financial Comptroller General and sent to the Treasury and Controller Offices for payment authorization. Following this process, employees at the Ministry of Finance have already received their first half-month salary for the month of Baisakh.
Minister Wagle appreciated the technical teams for completing the necessary preparations within a short period and emphasized that the system will gradually be expanded to cover all government employees.
